Jean Gannon Declares Candidacy for Senate of Virginia

Powhatan, VA, September 9, 2024 —

Jean Gannon, a Powhatan County real estate appraiser and long-time Republican activist, today announced her candidacy for the Senate of Virginia in the 10th District. The seat is currently held by Senator John J. McGuire, III (R-Goochland), Republican nominee for Congress in the 5th Congressional District.

“John McGuire is going to be elected to Congress, and it is critically important we nominate a strong conservative to hold his seat in the Senate,” Mrs. Gannon declared. “I am that conservative.

“As a grassroots activist, I have knocked on thousands of doors over many decades, and played a key role in last year’s Republican sweep of the Powhatan Board of Supervisors."

“In the Virginia Senate, I will fight for the conservative principles and traditional values we hold dear. Voters can count on me to continue the consistent conservative representation they received from Tom Garrett, Mark Peake, and John McGuire when they held this seat. I will protect the unborn, cut taxes, defend the Second Amendment and oppose the Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies that have made our communities less safe.”

Jean Gannon has been married to her husband, Tom, for forty years. Jean and Tom are the parents of two and grandparents of three. A real estate appraiser by profession, Jean has effectively been a full-time volunteer for Republican candidates and causes for years. Jean has held leadership positions in the Powhatan Republican Committee, the Virginia Federation of Republican Women, and numerous conservative campaigns and causes. Jean is a lifelong Catholic who is active in St John Neumann’s Catholic Church parish. The Virginia Senate’s 10th District is comprised of Amelia, Appomattox, Buckingham, Cumberland, Fluvanna, Goochland, and Powhatan Counties, and portions of Hanover, Louisa, and Prince Edward Counties.
