State Preemption of Local Authorities

It is important to understand the role of local, state and federal government. Local governments are the closest level of government for the community and often hear the issues from constituencies firsthand. It is also extremely important that local and state government officials work closely together to avoid any conflict on these issues.

Here in Virginia, the state legislature has a history of trying to remove from local governments the ability to stop solar and affordable housing. This is known as “State Preemption of Local Authorities”. 

I believe it is the duty and right of local governments to decide what is best for their communities on all issues. 

On November 5, 2024, including the 45 days prior to, we will have the opportunity to select the candidates that will best serve our state and local governments from the federal level. 

As Republicans it is imperative that we elect those on our ticket who will work with our state and local officials in bringing about the best possible outcome. Those candidates are:

Member of the U.S. House of Representatives
