Election Integrity is Key
One of my highest priorities as your State Senator will be ensuring the integrity of our elections. Nationally, 80 percent of our fellow Americans support Voter ID. Here in Virginia, the majority is less than that, but, still, a majority of Virginians also support Voter ID.
Donald Trump was elected to a new term precisely because the integrity of our polls—and of our voter rolls—was largely protected—even, apparently, in Pennsylvania.
I was privileged to serve as President-elect Trump's Regional Director of the "Protect the Vote" project in our 5th Congressional District—which includes many of the counties in State Senate District 10.
Other candidates talk about how they worked to elect President Trump, but I did it. This last election, I rolled up my sleeves, and got to work on protecting the security of our elections, recruiting, training and scheduling hundreds of Virginias on how to spot fraud and other irregularities so we can put a stop to them.
This endeavor was created, funded, and executed by Mr. Trump's campaign, the Republican National Committee, and our own Republican Party of Virginia. And as the results demonstrate, we contributed to the integrity of our electoral system.
This is but a recent example of my decades of laboring in the vineyards of Republican politics at the grassroots. And so, I pledge to complement, in the Senate, the labors of my dear friend Delegate Lee Ware, who twice in recent years sponsored Voter ID legislation in the House of Delegates. He was out-voted by the other party, and I may be out-voted, too, but at least I will make the effort.
On this issue, and on every principle that as Republicans we share, you can count on me to vote as you would wish, with conviction, and come what may.
