Where I Stand -Immigration

In 1976 I had the honor and privilege of standing beside my soon to be sister-in-law as she took the oath to become a citizen of the United States of America. She went through all the proper channels, took the exam and then the oath. It was a proud moment for all of us.

Today, after decades of faulty policy and a lack of law enforcement, our country faces an immigration crisis that has grown exponentially.

With the incoming Trump Administration we have a promise of bringing real law enforcement back to our borders.

But did you know that here in Our Commonwealth there is not one state law regarding illegal immigration?

Virginia needs laws to be put in place that say:

  1. Local sheriffs and police chiefs SHALL cooperate with ICE to the fullest. They need to be required to follow federal law. Not all jurisdictions are cooperative.

  2. Employers SHALL be required to use an e-verify system to confirm new hires are indeed here legally

  3. Virginia will adopt a law, similar to Texas, that would make re-entry into Virginia after deportation a separate STATE law violation (not just federal). This would ensure backup for when Democrat federal leadership is in place.

Currently our law enforcement officers have no authority because this is a federal issue. Along with these proposed laws, we need to be able to empower local law enforcement by bringing them better resources to detain and deport.

This is why I need YOU to join me
